FAMILY
RECOVERY
We help individuals and families find and sustain recovery from substance use disorders by providing quality services in a safe and supportive environment, collaborating with community partners, and engaging in advocacy.
PROGRAM GOALS.
The Family Recovery Program focuses on partnering with and assisting families to use their strengths and resources to help their loved ones find and sustain recovery. We connect with the family through our shared experiences and professional expertise to support the family members understand, cope with, and overcome challenges from the impact of opioid and other substance use disorders. We help them develop a vision of healthy relationships and how to improve their family structure and functioning.
The program has the following six overarching goals:
01
Guide family members to resources and services that can help their loved ones.
02
Educate and empower the person with OUD/SUD to engage their family members and loved ones in their recovery journey.
03
Educate and encourage families to use their strengths and resources to create a healthy support system for their loved one.
04
Help the client and the family develop a vision of a healthy relationship and improve family structure and functioning.
05
Reduce the stigma and normalize treatment and recovery so families feel more comfortable to utilize the help available.
06
Facilitate the development of family support groups to recover out-loud for the sustainability of their own recovery and to be a lighthouse of hope to other families in need of help.
FAMILY EDUCATION WORKSHOPS.
One of the components of the program consists of a 12-week series of educational workshops. The topics and content were developed through extensive research using community participatory research methods. Hundreds of clients and their families informed the program development through direct feedback, pre- and post-evaluations, and suggestions. The workshops were packaged based on known evidence-based practices and designed as independent modules allowing for families and individuals with OUD/SUD to join at any time.
